Movie Night

Come and join us on Saturday, December 2nd, from 7 - 10 PM for the first MOVIE NIGHT in the new church! We will be watching 13th,  a documentary about the 13th Amendment and its effects on the lives of  African Americans, with discussion to follow. Bring popcorn or a snack to share if you wish. Movie will start at 7:30. The 13th Amendments states: "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted,  shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their  jurisdiction."  With this amendment began the mass incarceration of  millions of black Americans and continues to this day. This documentary  sheds light on the history of this amendment and how it has shaped our  country's history ever since. Here is a review of the movie by Roger Ebert.
