Poet Yehuda Amichai writes, “From the place where we are right, flowers will never grow in the spring. The place where we are right is hard and trampled like a yard.” It feels good to be “right,” but insisting on our own righteousness usually comes at the cost of being an effective force for change. For the seeds of love, justice, and peace to grow, we need to awaken our curiosity, listen to one another with open minds, and till the soil of our hearts and communities.
