Support UUCM

For more than 65 years, UUCM has relied on the generosity of our members and our friends to finance the church and fund our mission. Thank you for considering a gift to UUCM, and we hope you will join the more than 250 people who have supported UUCM in the past year.  You can make a gift right now at our online donation page. To learn more about giving to UUCM, please review our UUCM Giving Guide.  Donations are tax-deductible and will directly support the mission, ministries, and programs of the church. UUCM is registered as a 501c(3) organization with the IRS (Tax ID: 41-0901806).

Your Gifts Make a Difference

UUCM is a vibrant church community serving its members, friends, and the larger world through multi-generational programming for spiritual growth, social justice, and religious education.  All of this is made possible by the gifts of time and money from our members and friends. If you are interested in making a financial contribution to UUCM, please read the information below, or download our UUCM Giving Guide. Please contact our Giving Team at give@uucmtka.org with any questions.

How do I make my gift to UUCM?

Whether you are paying your pledge, or making a one-time gift, you have many  options:

  • Online: To donate online using your credit card or bank account, please visit our donation web page at https://uucm.breezechms.com/give/online. If you have a Breeze account, you may use https://uucm.breezechms.com/give/internal to make a gift or manage your donations. UUCM pays a small fee for each electronic payment, and you may choose to cover these fees.
  • Check or Cash: Please make checks - from you or your financial institution - payable to “UUCM” and provide instructions in the memo line. You may mail your check to “UUCM, 2030 Wayzata Blvd East, Wayzata, MN 55391.” Cash and checks may also be placed in an envelope and dropped off in the secure box by the church office.
  • Automatic Withdrawals: You may make a recurring donation to the church using automatic withdrawals from your bank account or your credit card. You may set this up in your Breeze account at https://uucm.breezechms.com/give/internal. Or you may have the church set it up for you. Simply fill out this form and return it to the church.
  • Stock: If you would like to donate appreciated stock, you can make direct share transfers to our brokerage account. To arrange the donation, email give@uucmtka.org or call the church. We sell all stock upon receipt.
  • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD): If you are over 70½, then you may take a (QCD) from your retirement account. It is credited to your Required Minimum Distributions (RMD) and is tax-deductible. Consult your financial advisor for more information.
  • Legacy Gifts: You may choose to include UUCM as a beneficiary in your will or trust. Please consult your financial advisor or attorney to learn how you might set that up. If you are planning such a gift, we ask that you reach out to the Giving Team at give@uucmtka.org so that we are aware. We can also answer any questions you might have.

How may I direct my gift?

The fundraising priority for UUCM is the General Fund.

  • General Fund: This is the main source of income for our operating budget, which directly supports our staff, operations, and programming. We ask all members and friends to make a gift or pledge to the General Fund.

If you have additional money that you would like to give to the church, then you may consider one of the following options.

  • Capital Reserve Fund: UUCM established a Building Fund in 2007 to pay for construction of our current building at 2030 Wayzata Blvd East. The fund continues to provide money for the repair, construction, or acquisition of capital assets, and to pay down the principal on our mortgage.
  • Social Generosity Fund: Donations to this fund are directed to local groups that provide services to those in need, or organizations working on behalf of issues important to UUs. We raise money for this fund during the offertory at Sunday Services, but gifts may be made at other times as well.
  • Friedman Ministerial Intern Fund: Established to recognize Rev. Lisa Friedmen’s tremendous contributions as a mentor and educator, this fund is used to support the hiring of Ministerial Interns at UUCM and continue our work as a teaching congregation.
  • Endowment Fund: UUCM has an Endowment Fund that preserves capital for the long-term health of the church, with restrictions on the amount and purpose of any spending.

During the year there will also be fundraising campaigns for specific causes and initiatives (e.g. children and youth), or for staff recognition. Please watch the regular church communications for announcements.

The Stewardship Campaign and Pledging

Each spring we hold our annual Stewardship Campaign and ask our members and friends for pledges of financial support for the upcoming July-June fiscal year operating budget.  In addition to helping us confidently plan our budget, pledges are a powerful statement of your support for the church. Pledges may be made at any time of the year.

The campaign for the 2026-27 fiscal year has the theme of “Growing our Roots and Branches.” As the congregation is organizing to meet the challenges of this moment, our church community provides a strong foundation (“roots”) for transformative outreach and connection in the wider world (“branches”). Your generous gifts of time and money help us to deepen our roots and expand our branches, enabling us to live our values, respond to current needs, and build a world where all can thrive.

You can find more information in our Stewardship Information Packet and campaign overview video. When you are ready, you can pledge online.
